What's inside

  • A two-week calendar: date, time, type, pillar, post text with a count against Threads' 500 characters per post, topic tag, media and status
  • A planner for multi-post threads, with each post's text and length
  • A weekly review of views, replies, reposts and likes for each post, with a keep-or-change note
  • A filled example for Kettle & Quill, a fictional bookshop café (every figure is made up), and a blank CSV of each sheet

How to use it

  1. Pick three or four pillars, such as recommendations, behind the scenes, events and questions for your followers.
  2. Plan conversation, not announcements. Threads suits questions, opinions and short updates that people want to reply to.
  3. Write each post in the sheet and check the count. If a post goes over 500 characters, Threads adds another post to the thread.
  4. Tag one topic per post. Threads allows one, and it can be up to 50 characters, spaces included.
  5. Add photos or a video where they help. The Threads app lets you attach up to 10 items to a post.
  6. Block out reply time on the calendar. A question with no answers from you is a missed conversation.
  7. At the end of each week, fill the review and plan more of what people replied to.

Tips

  • Kettle & Quill, its staff, the author and every figure in the example are made up. The posting times are the example shop's choices, not a recommendation.
  • Threads' help centre says a thread can include text, links, photos and videos, that you can attach up to 10 items in the app, and that if your post contains more than 500 characters another post is added to the thread automatically (checked on 15 October 2026).
  • Threads' help centre says you can include up to one topic per post, and that a topic can be up to 50 characters and may contain spaces and special characters (checked on 15 October 2026).
  • Plan reply sessions as well as posts. On a conversation-led platform, answering people is part of the plan.
  • Ask before quoting or reposting a customer's post with your business name on it, and note in the media column that they agreed.
  • Zolyp, which makes this template, publishes to Threads alongside Instagram, Facebook and the other platforms it supports, and writes each platform its own version of a post. You approve each one before it goes out.

Common questions

What should a Threads content calendar include?

The date, time, type (post, multi-post thread, poll, quote post or reply session), pillar, post text and its length, the topic tag, media and a status. A weekly review shows which posts started conversations.

How many characters can a Threads post have?

Threads' help centre, checked on 15 October 2026, says that if your post contains more than 500 characters, another post is added to the thread automatically. Plan each post to stand on its own within 500 characters.

How many topic tags can I use on Threads?

One per post, according to Threads' help centre, checked on 15 October 2026. A topic can be up to 50 characters and may include spaces, so you can tag a phrase such as 'book recommendations'.

Are the figures in the example real?

No. The bookshop and every figure are made up to show how a filled calendar and review read. The character counts are correct for the example posts.
