What's inside

  • A source breakdown: each section of the original with its timestamp, key point, best line and the visuals you already have
  • A repurposing map: every new piece with its platform, format, angle, source section, the platform limit to respect, owner and date
  • A results sheet to see which pieces did well and whether they sent people back to the original
  • A filled example for Stride Physio, a fictional clinic (every detail is made up), and a blank CSV of each sheet

How to use it

  1. Choose a source worth repurposing: something you put real work into that answers a question your customers ask.
  2. Break it into sections and pull out the key point and the best line from each.
  3. For each point, pick the platform and format where it fits, and write a new angle rather than a shortened copy.
  4. Note each platform's limits in the map, checked on the platform's own help pages.
  5. Spread the pieces over a few weeks so the same idea doesn't appear everywhere on one day.
  6. Point back to the original where it makes sense, so people who want more can find it.
  7. Fill the results sheet, and repurpose your next source in the formats that worked.

Tips

  • Stride Physio, its staff and its video are made up, and the stretches in the example are not medical advice.
  • Repurpose ideas, not files. A LinkedIn post for employers about desk set-up is a different post from an Instagram Reel of the same stretch.
  • Film extra vertical clips while you record the original. It's quicker than reframing horizontal footage later.
  • YouTube Help says Shorts can be up to three minutes with a square or vertical frame, and LinkedIn Help says posts can contain up to 3,000 characters (both checked on 15 October 2026). Check other platforms' limits on their own help pages before you plan around them.
  • Space the pieces out over several weeks. The same point on five platforms on one day reaches the same people five times.
  • Zolyp, which makes this template, fits one idea to each platform's format and limits, writing a separate caption and crop for each rather than posting the same text everywhere.

Common questions

What is content repurposing?

Turning one piece of content, such as a video, article, talk or newsletter, into several new pieces made for other platforms and formats, so the work behind it reaches more people.

What content is worth repurposing?

Pieces that took real work and answer a question your customers keep asking: a long video, a detailed guide, a talk, a case study. A source with several distinct points gives you more to work with.

Is repurposing the same as cross-posting?

No. Cross-posting sends the same post to several platforms. Repurposing makes a new piece for each platform from the same source, with its own angle and format.

Are the details in the example real?

No. The clinic, its staff, its video and its results are made up. The platform limits in the map are from YouTube's and LinkedIn's help pages, checked on 15 October 2026.
