Where to find the numbers

Why three answers?

Social tools don't agree on what to divide by, which is why the same post can show 2% in one report and 9% in another. Neither is wrong; they measure different things. Choose one formula, note it down, and compare posts and months with that formula only. Read more about engagement rate, reach and impressions.

Common questions

How do you calculate engagement rate?

Add up a post's engagements (likes, comments, shares, saves and, if you count them, link clicks), divide by reach, impressions or followers, and multiply by 100. The calculator shows all three so you can pick one and stick with it.

Which engagement rate formula should I use?

By reach is usually the fairest for comparing your own posts, because it only counts people who saw the post. By followers is common for comparing accounts, since anyone can see a follower count. By impressions suits video and ads, where repeat views matter.

What is a good engagement rate?

It depends on the platform, the formula, your industry and your account's size, and published averages vary a lot between studies. The most useful benchmark is your own: work out your average over the last 20 posts and aim to beat it.

Does the calculator save my numbers?

No. It runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
