What's inside

  • A Pin calendar: date, board, Pin type, title with a length check against Pinterest's 100-character limit, description, link, image and status
  • A board plan: what each board is for, the words people search for, and how many Pins it gets this month
  • A monthly review of impressions, saves and link clicks for each Pin, with a keep-or-change note
  • A filled example for Sage Street Kitchen, a fictional cookery school (every figure is made up), and a blank CSV of each sheet

How to use it

  1. List your boards first. Each one should match something people search for, such as 'make-ahead Christmas recipes', not a clever name.
  2. Plan seasonal Pins well before the date, so they're there while people are planning.
  3. Write the title with the words people search for at the start. Pinterest's limit is 100 characters, and only the first 40 or so may show in feeds.
  4. Write a description that says what the Pin is and who it's for. Pinterest's limit is 800 characters.
  5. Make the image tall: Pinterest recommends a 2:3 ratio, such as 1000 x 1500 pixels.
  6. Link every Pin to the exact page it shows, such as the recipe or the class booking page, with a tagged link.
  7. At the end of the month, fill the review and make more Pins like the ones people saved and clicked.

Tips

  • Sage Street Kitchen, its classes and every figure in the example are made up. The number of Pins a week is the example school's choice, not a recommendation.
  • Pinterest's product specs say titles can be up to 100 characters, with only the first 40 shown in some feeds, and descriptions up to 800 characters, which don't appear in the home or search feed but help Pinterest judge relevance (checked on 15 October 2026).
  • Pinterest recommends a 2:3 ratio for image Pins, such as 1000 x 1500 pixels, and says taller images may be cut off in feeds. Video Pins can run from 4 seconds to 15 minutes (checked on 15 October 2026).
  • Link each Pin to a page that will still exist next year, as people may find and save it long after you publish.
  • Make several Pins for your best pages, each with a different image and title, rather than repinning the same one.
  • Zolyp, which makes this template, publishes to Pinterest alongside Instagram, Facebook and the other platforms it supports, and writes each platform its own caption. Plans with AI-written posts start at $29 a month.

Common questions

What should a Pinterest content calendar include?

For each Pin: the date, the board, the Pin type, a title, a description, the page it links to, the image or video and a status. A board plan and a monthly review of impressions, saves and clicks keep it focused.

How long can a Pin title and description be?

Pinterest's product specs, checked on 15 October 2026, say titles can be up to 100 characters and descriptions up to 800 characters. Only the first 40 characters of a title may show in feeds, so put the important words first.

How far ahead should I plan seasonal Pins?

Earlier than you might on other platforms, so the Pins are there while people plan. The example school starts Christmas Pins at the beginning of November. Look at when your own seasonal Pins started getting saves last year and plan from that.

Are the figures in the example real?

No. The cookery school and every figure are made up to show how a filled calendar and review read. The title lengths are counted correctly for the example titles.
