What's inside

  • A post planner: date, post type, title, text, photo, button, the offer or event dates and status
  • A rules checklist summarising Google's 'Create a post' help page, with what the example business does about each point
  • A monthly review of what each post led to, measured the business's own way: calls, bookings and offer codes
  • A filled example for Fenwick Auto Care, a fictional garage (every figure is made up), and a blank CSV of each sheet

How to use it

  1. Choose the post type for each idea. Google offers three: updates for news, offers for deals and events for anything with a date.
  2. Fill in the fields Google asks for: an offer needs a title and dates, and an event needs a title with start and end dates.
  3. Add a clear photo of the real business, its people or its work.
  4. Choose one button, such as Book or Learn more, and point it at the right page.
  5. Keep phone numbers out of the post text. Google may reject a post if it can't verify the number belongs to the business.
  6. Plan at least one post a week. Posts older than six months are archived unless they have a date range.
  7. At the end of the month, note which posts led to calls, bookings or offer codes, and plan more like them.

Tips

  • Fenwick Auto Care, its staff, offers and every figure in the example are made up. The posting pace is the example garage's choice.
  • Google's 'Create a post' help page says posts older than six months are archived unless a date range is set, only posts with a Live status appear on Search and Maps, and a post with a phone number in the description may be rejected if the number can't be verified (checked on 15 October 2026).
  • Use real photos of your business and team. A stock photo on a local profile looks like nobody's there.
  • Give every offer a code or a phrase to mention, so you can count it in the review instead of guessing.
  • When your hours change for a holiday, post an update and change the opening hours on the profile itself.
  • Zolyp, which makes this template, publishes to Google Business alongside Instagram, Facebook and the other platforms it supports, so a profile post can go into the same week's plan and approval as everything else.

Common questions

What types of Google Business Profile posts are there?

Google's help page, checked on 15 October 2026, lists three: updates, which share information about your business; offers, which provide sales or deals; and events, which promote an event at your business.

How long do Google Business Profile posts stay up?

Google says posts older than six months are archived unless a date range is set. Offers and events carry their own dates. Posting regularly keeps recent posts on the profile.

Can I put my phone number in a Google Business Profile post?

Google says posts with a phone number in the description may be rejected if the number can't be verified as belonging to the business. Your profile already shows your number, so it's simpler to leave it out and use a button.

Are the figures in the example real?

No. The garage, its staff and every figure are made up to show how a filled planner and review read.
