How do you post on Threads from a computer?
Go to threads.com and log in. Threads' help centre gives these steps for the web:
- Click New post (the plus icon) in the bottom right.
- Type what you want to say. Use the icons under the text box to add a photo or video from your computer, a GIF, a topic tag or a poll.
- To limit who can reply, click Anyone can reply & quote in the bottom left and pick Profiles you follow or Mentioned only.
- Click Post in the bottom right. To get a link to the post, click Share below it.

How do you post on Threads from your phone?
The app works the same way. Tap New post (the plus icon), write your text, and add photos, video, GIFs, a poll, a topic or a location. Before you post, you can change who is allowed to reply and quote. Tap Post and the thread appears on your profile and in feeds.
If you'd rather finish later, close the post and save it as a draft. Drafts saved in the app stay in the app.

What can a Threads post include?
A post can be text only, or text with media. These are the limits worth knowing:
- Text attachments are for when the main post isn't enough room. Meta added them in September 2025.
- The carousel and video limits come from Meta's developer documentation for publishing to Threads.
- A topic tag doesn't need a # symbol, and it can include spaces.
| Element | Limit |
|---|---|
| Post text | Up to 500 characters |
| Attached text | Up to 10,000 characters, read inside Threads |
| Photos and videos | Up to 20 items in one carousel post |
| Video length | Up to 5 minutes |
| Topic tag | 1 per post, up to 50 characters |
| Poll | Up to 4 options of 25 characters, open for 24 hours |

Who can see and reply to your post?
Who can see a thread follows your profile's privacy setting. A public profile's posts can be seen by anyone, and can be recommended to people who don't follow you.
Reply controls are set per post. You can limit replies and quotes to profiles you follow or to people you mention. If you've turned on sharing to the fediverse, a post with limited replies or a poll won't be shared to other servers.

Can you edit or delete a Threads post?
You can edit the text of a post or reply within 15 minutes of posting. Open the post from your profile, tap the three-dot Options menu, tap Edit, change the text and tap Post. You can't add or remove photos or videos in an edit, and if anyone interacts with the post first, it shows an Edited label.
After 15 minutes the only option is to delete the post. Deleting a thread doesn't delete other people's replies to it.

Can you save a draft or schedule a Threads post?
Yes. To save a draft, start a post, close it and choose Save. Drafts stay where you saved them: a draft saved on threads.com is only on threads.com, and one saved in the app is only in the app.
Threads also added built-in scheduling in January 2025, so you can write a post now and set it to go out at a later date and time.

What should you post first?
Threads is built around conversation, so short posts that invite a reply tend to suit it. A few easy starting points for a business:
- A question your customers often ask you, answered in two or three lines.
- A behind-the-scenes note about today's work, with one photo.
- A poll with two to four short options about a real choice you're making.
- A reply to someone else's post in your field. Replies show on your profile too.
Posting to Threads every week
Zolyp is our product, so weigh this section with that in mind. The Post button is easy; deciding what to say several times a week is the work. Zolyp creates short, conversational Threads posts, with an optional on-brand image, and writes them for Threads rather than reusing a caption from another platform. Threads doesn't let outside apps delete a published post, so removing one is done in the Threads app.
Zolyp plans the week across your content themes, writes the posts and designs the visuals against your Brand Brain (your tone, colours and rules, saved once), then schedules and publishes to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Business, X, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and Threads. Nothing goes out until you approve it. Plans that create the posts start at $29 a month, with a 3-day free trial and no card required.
