What this means for a small business

  • People leave reviews on Google in huge numbers, so ask happy customers for one and reply to every review, good or bad.
  • Never buy or swap reviews. Google removes fake reviews at scale and now warns people when a profile has had suspicious five-star reviews removed.
  • Keep your hours, phone number and services correct. Anyone can suggest an edit to your profile, so check it regularly and act on Google's alerts.
