What is a facebook Page?
Also called Facebook business page, FB Page, Facebook company page.
A Facebook Page is a public presence on Facebook for a business, brand, organisation or public figure, separate from a personal profile. It lets people follow, message and review the business, and it is what you connect to tools for posting and ads.
Why it matters
A Page is how a business exists properly on Facebook: it shows your opening hours, location, contact details and reviews in one place, and it is what Facebook ads and Meta's business tools are built around. Posting from a personal profile instead mixes business with private life and limits what you can do.
Example
A family-run Italian restaurant creates a Page with its menu, hours and booking link, posts the weekly specials every Thursday, and replies to questions about gluten-free options through the Page's messages.
How to create a Facebook Page
You need a personal Facebook account to create a Page, but your personal details aren't shown on it. These are the steps on a computer.
- Log in to Facebook, then click Pages on the left.
- Click Create Page.
- Select Public Page, then click Next.
- Click Get started.
- Add your Page name and category.
- Add an optional bio and click Create Page.
- Add information such as contact details, location and hours, then click Next.
- Add a profile photo and cover photo, edit the action button and click Next.
- Connect WhatsApp to your Page, or click Skip.
- Invite friends to connect with your Page, then click Next.
- Choose your notification settings and click Done.
Page vs profile vs group
A personal profile is for an individual. A Page is the official voice of a business and is public. A group is a community space where members talk to each other, and a Page can run one alongside its main posts.
Many small businesses use all three: the owner's profile for personal life, the Page for business updates, and a group for loyal customers or a local community.
Pages are also what Meta's business tools are built around. Scheduling in Meta Business Suite, running ads and seeing Page insights all start from a Page, usually held in a business portfolio.
Setting up a Page that works
Zolyp can write and publish posts to a connected Facebook Page, but the Page itself needs a few basics first.
- Use your real business name so people can find you in search.
- Fill in hours, address, phone, website and a short description.
- Pick an action button that matches what you want people to do, such as Book, Call or Message.
- Use a clear logo for the profile photo and a cover photo that shows what you do.
- Give admin access only to people who need it, and remove it when they leave.
- Post regularly and reply to messages and comments quickly.
Common mistakes
- Running the business from a personal profile instead of a Page
- Letting the only admin be someone who has left the business
- Leaving old opening hours or a dead phone number on the Page
- Posting only offers, with nothing useful or personal in between
- Not answering messages, which customers often use to ask about prices and bookings
Common questions
Is a Facebook Page free?
Yes. Creating and posting from a Page is free. You pay only if you choose to run ads or boost posts.
Can people see my personal profile from my Page?
No. Visitors see the Page's name, details and posts, not the personal profile you use to manage it.
Do I need a Page to run Facebook ads?
Yes. Ads on Facebook run from a Page, and Meta's business tools are built around Pages and the business portfolio that holds them.
