Native scheduling limits on every platform, compared

Every major platform now has some free, built-in scheduling, but the rules differ a lot. Facebook Pages allow 20 minutes to 29 days ahead; LinkedIn 10 minutes (profiles) or one hour (Pages) to three months; Pinterest up to 30 days with 10 Pins queued; TikTok 15 minutes to 10 days on desktop for eligible accounts; YouTube schedules private videos to go public; and on X the documented routes are X Pro and X Ads.

How far ahead can you schedule on each platform?

We compiled this from each platform's own help centre on 3 October 2026, the same sources our guides cite. It covers native scheduling only, not third-party tools.

Which platforms make you edit before scheduling?

Two platforms are strict about changes once a post is queued. TikTok lets you delete a scheduled video but not edit it. Pinterest lets you change the date, title, board, description and link, but not the image or video. On both, a change to the media means deleting and scheduling again. LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube all let you reschedule or edit a queued post.

What can't be scheduled natively?

Each platform has gaps that still have to be posted live:

  • LinkedIn: events, jobs and service posts everywhere; polls, reshares and multi-photo posts on company Pages.
  • X: longer posts (an X Premium feature) on web.
  • TikTok: anything from mobile web; and accounts that aren't business accounts and have fewer than 10,000 followers.
  • Pinterest: more than 10 Pins at once, or anything more than 30 days out.

Which platform gives you the longest runway?

LinkedIn, at three months, is the only one that suits planning a whole quarter. Facebook and Pinterest sit around a month. TikTok's 10 days forces a weekly rhythm. For a business on several networks, that means at least four different queues in four places, each with its own window, which is the practical reason people move to a single planner.

What limits apply to each post once it's scheduled?

Scheduling windows are half the picture. The other half is what each platform accepts in a post and how many posts one account can send in a day. These are the limits Zolyp enforces before it queues a post; daily caps are per connected account over a rolling 24 hours.

  • X's 280 characters is the standard limit; longer posts are an X Premium feature and can't be scheduled on web.
  • The daily caps matter most for X (10) and YouTube (10); elsewhere a small business rarely gets near them.

How should you plan around such different windows?

Treat the shortest window as your rhythm and the longest as your horizon:

  1. Plan themes a month or a quarter ahead, which LinkedIn's three months can hold.
  2. Write and finish the posts for the next two weeks in one sitting.
  3. Schedule TikTok weekly, since 10 days is its limit, and top up Pinterest's 10-Pin queue at the same time.
  4. Leave a gap each week for something live: a reply to news, a customer story, a behind-the-scenes clip.
  5. Once a week, check what each platform actually published, because a post that fails in one queue doesn't warn the others.

How Zolyp fits in

Zolyp plans one calendar for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Business, X, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and Threads, writes each post for the platform it goes to, and publishes through each platform's official connection, so you manage one queue instead of several. It checks each platform's caption, media and daily limits before a post is queued; those rules are listed in the docs.
