How to turn off or manage Pinterest notifications

Pinterest sends notifications three ways, and you control each one per category:

• On Pinterest (in-app): shown in the app or on the website
• By email: categories include saves, boards and topics for you, recommended searches, Pin picks, followers, group board updates, messages and Pinterest announcements
• Push: shown on your phone, including comments, mentions, saves, followers, invitations and messages
• Whether people can mention you in a comment or Pin isn't a notification setting. It's under Privacy and data

On the Pinterest website:

1. Log in and click the more-options icon at the bottom left of the screen.
2. Click Settings, then Notifications in the left-hand menu.
3. Click the icon next to the notification category you want to change.
4. Switch the toggle for Push, Email or In-app on or off.
5. Click Save at the bottom of the screen. Reset puts every notification back to the default.

The route differs slightly between phones:

1. Android: tap your profile picture at the bottom right, then the more-options icon at the top right, then Notifications.
2. iPhone: tap your profile picture at the bottom right, then your profile picture at the top left, then Notifications.
3. Business accounts on either: tap your profile photo at the bottom right, then the ellipsis icon at the top right to reach settings.
4. Tap a category and set Push, Email or In-app for each type. Changes save automatically.

• To stop all push notifications on iPhone, tap Open Settings in the app's notification settings, tap Notifications and switch off Allow Notifications

There are two ways. From your settings:

1. Open Settings, then Notifications.
2. Click the chevron-down icon next to How you get notifications.
3. Switch off the Email toggle.
4. Click Save on a computer, or tap Turn off all in the app.

• From an email: scroll to the bottom, click Unsubscribe to stop that type of email, then click Confirm
• It can take a day or two for the change to apply, and you may get an email or two in the meantime

Work through the likely causes:

• Still getting emails a few days later: check you changed the right account, then contact Pinterest
• Emails for an account you never made: open one, click Unsubscribe, click Didn't sign up for Pinterest? Let us know, then Remove my email address
• Several connected accounts: settings apply per account, so switch to each one and repeat the steps
• Running a business account: keep messages and comment notifications on somewhere, so customer questions don't go unanswered
