How to change the email address on your Pinterest account

Your email is used to log in and to receive updates, and each email can only be connected to one Pinterest account at a time. To see it:

1. Personal account on a computer: click the more-options icon at the bottom left, select Settings and Support, then Account management. It's listed under Email.
2. Business account on a computer: click the arrow-down icon at the top right, then Settings, then Account management.
3. Personal account in the app: tap your profile picture, the more-options icon at the top right, then Account management.
4. Business account in the app: tap your profile photo, the ellipsis icon at the top right, Settings, then Account management.

The steps are the same for both account types once you reach settings:

1. Personal account: click the more-options icon at the bottom left, then Settings. Business account: click the arrow-down icon at the top right, then Settings.
2. Click Account management on the left.
3. Enter your new email address in the Email field.
4. Click Save.
5. Open the email titled Your Pinterest verification code, sent to the new address, and enter the code in Pinterest.

Android and iPhone use the same route, with slightly different button names:

1. Personal account: tap your profile picture at the bottom right, then the more-options icon at the top right. Business account: tap your profile photo, the ellipsis icon at the top right, then Settings.
2. Tap Account management, then Email or Email address.
3. Enter your new email address.
4. Tap Save or Next, depending on your phone and account type.
5. Enter the code Pinterest sends to the new address and tap Continue.

That usually means you created another Pinterest account with it by accident. Pinterest's own pages give different fixes:

• The Manage your email address page says to deactivate the other account and wait seven days for the email to become available
• The Merge accounts and Deactivate or close pages say deactivating doesn't free the email. They say to change the email on the other account, or close it
• The route every page agrees on: log in to the other account and change its email first, then use the freed address on your main account
• Accounts can't be merged, so move anything you need by saving Pins one at a time before closing the spare account

Pinterest can't help change the email if you can't access the current one. Your options:

• If the account is set up to log in with Google or Apple, use Continue with Google instead of your email and password, then update the email in settings
• Check for a typo in the address you signed up with, such as .con instead of .com, or a missing number, and try logging in with that version
• Get a hint to the account email at pinterest.com/password/reset by searching for your name or username
• Without email access or a Google or Apple log-in, Pinterest can't verify the account is yours. You'd need to create a new account
• For a business, use a shared work address you control rather than one person's inbox, so access doesn't leave with a staff member
