Who can change a Page's name?

Only someone with Facebook access to the Page. Meta says people with task access (who work on the Page from tools such as Meta Business Suite) can't request a name change. If you aren't sure which you have, ask whoever has full control of the Page.

Changing the name is a request, not an instant edit, and it doesn't change your Page's username (the facebook.com/yourname address). If you want the web address to match, change the username separately.

What names will Meta accept?

Meta says a Page name must accurately reflect the Page, and recommends keeping it simple, specific and grammatically correct, giving examples such as Hungry Bear Coffee and Allstar Locksmith. A Page name can't include:

  • Terms that may be abusive or violate someone's rights.
  • The word "official" unless it's the official Page of that brand, place, organisation or public figure.
  • Odd capitalisation or all capitals (acronyms are fine).
  • Symbols such as ® or unnecessary punctuation.
  • Descriptions or slogans, such as "The Best Cafe - We serve the best coffee in town". Put those in your About section instead.
  • Any variation of "Facebook", "Meta" or other Meta product names.

What can't a Page name be on its own?

Meta also rejects names that are too broad: a single general word (such as Pizza) or a general place (such as New York). An organisation that represents a place can use it, for example "New York City, Mayor's Office" in Meta's own example, and a name can differ from the organisation's legal name as long as it accurately reflects what the Page is about.

For a small business, the safest choice is the name customers already know: the one on your sign, receipts or website. Add your town only if it's part of how people tell you apart.

Why can't you see the option to edit the name?

Meta lists four reasons the Edit option may be missing:

  • Your Page access doesn't allow name changes (task access, for example).
  • You or someone else with Facebook access recently changed the Page's name.
  • There may be limits on the Page.
  • It's a regional Page that falls under a global Page, whose name can't be changed.

After the rename

Zolyp is our product, so weigh this section with that in mind. A new name is a good moment to tidy up what the Page says about itself, from the bio to the posts people see first. Zolyp publishes to Facebook Pages, so it can keep the renamed Page posting while customers get used to the new name.

Zolyp plans the week across your content themes, writes the captions and designs the visuals against your Brand Brain (your tone, colours and rules, saved once), then schedules and publishes to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Business, X, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and Threads. You review and approve the week, and Autopilot lets you hand off publishing theme by theme once you trust the output. Plans that create the posts start at $29 a month, with a 3-day free trial and no card required.
