Was your Page hacked or were you just removed?

Check the simple explanation first. Meta suggests seeing whether another admin of the Page removed you, and asking them to add you back. Meta also notes you can lose access if you aren't the authorised representative of what the Page is about, or if the Page was reported and removed for breaking the Community Standards.

A takeover usually starts with a person, not the Page. Meta gives two typical patterns: a hacker steals a password, logs in to someone's personal account, adds themselves to the Page and removes everyone else; or a scammer tricks an admin into handing over control, sometimes inside Meta Business Suite.

How do you request Page recovery?

Meta calls its recovery form the best and fastest route, even if you have Meta Verified or another support channel. It can only act if it can confirm the Page was compromised.

  1. Log in to Facebook on a device you normally use.
  2. Open the Facebook Help Centre article Recover a hacked Facebook Page you manage and click the link to the Page recovery form.
  3. Select the Page you lost access to and complete the form.
  4. Watch your email: Meta says it aims to reply within a day, though some reviews take longer.

What if you can't submit the form?

Meta says you can only submit it while logged in and if you recently lost access. Its fixes:

How do you tell if your own account was hacked?

Most Page takeovers come through a personal account, so check yours. Meta's warning signs include a changed profile picture, posts or messages you didn't write, login or two-factor problems, and emails saying your password, email address or phone number changed when you didn't change them.

If your account email was changed, Meta sends a message to the previous address with a link to reverse the change. You can also check Where you're logged in in your settings and log out any device you don't recognise.

How do you secure the Page once you're back in?

Meta recommends unlocking your account if it was locked, then reviewing your Page and business portfolio and undoing any change you don't recognise. Then turn on Advanced Protection, which requires stronger logins such as passkeys or two-factor authentication. Meta says it's required for some accounts, including those added to business portfolios that advertise. To turn it on:

  1. Click your profile picture in the top right of Facebook.
  2. Click Settings and privacy, then Accounts Centre (or Meta Account).
  3. Click Password and security, then Advanced Protection.
  4. Follow the on-screen check, then click Fix Now and complete the prompts.
  5. Ask everyone else with access to the Page to do the same.

Fewer logins, fewer risks

Zolyp is our product, so weigh this section with that in mind. Every person who logs in to the Page is an account that can be phished, so keep full control to two trusted people. If colleagues or an agency only need to plan and post, they can work in Zolyp with their own logins instead; team members are unlimited on every plan.

Zolyp plans the week across your content themes, writes the captions and designs the visuals against your Brand Brain (your tone, colours and rules, saved once), then schedules and publishes to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Business, X, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and Threads. You review and approve the week, and Autopilot lets you hand off publishing theme by theme once you trust the output. Plans that create the posts start at $29 a month, with a 3-day free trial and no card required.
