How to add an action button on Instagram

To add an action button on Instagram, use a business account, tap Edit profile, then Action buttons below Public business information. Choose Book now, Reserve or Order food, connect a partner you already have an account with (or add a lead form) and tap Done. Only one action button can show on your profile at a time.

What action buttons can you add?

Instagram says the feature is being introduced gradually and the number of partners is limited, with more countries to come. Its pages differ on who gets it: the add-button page says business accounts, while the partners page says business and creator accounts.

  • Book now: people book an appointment
  • Reserve: people reserve a table at a restaurant
  • Order food: people order delivery or takeaway
  • Only one button shows on your profile at a time
  • You need an existing account with a partner to connect it

How do you add an action button?

  1. Go to your business account on Instagram.
  2. Tap Edit profile.
  3. Below Public business information, tap Action buttons.
  4. Select the button you want.
  5. Connect it to a partner service, or add a lead form to collect contact details.
  6. Tap Done.

Which booking and ordering partners work?

Instagram calls this "some partners", so the list may change. Our advice: if you already use one of these for bookings, connect it; if not, a lead form still lets people leave their details.

How do you show your contact details and category?

To show your location on the Instagram Map, edit the address on your Facebook Page and connect your Instagram account to it. Instagram says the location becomes visible on the map and taggable in posts and stories within 48 hours.

  1. Go to your professional account and tap Edit Profile.
  2. Under Public Business Information, edit the connected Facebook Page, Business Category or Business contact info.
  3. Tap Profile Display to show or hide your category label and contact info.
  4. Tap Done to return to your profile.

How do you remove or change a button?

To switch partners, remove the current button and add the new one.

  1. Go to your business profile and tap Edit profile.
  2. Below Public business information, tap Action buttons.
  3. Tap Current button and select the one to remove.
  4. Tap Remove action button at the bottom.

Why can't you add an action button?

  • You have a personal account. Switch to a professional account first
  • Action buttons aren't in Edit profile yet. Instagram is rolling the feature out gradually
  • Your booking tool isn't listed. Only certain partners and countries are supported
  • The partner won't connect. You need an existing account with that partner
  • You want two buttons. Only one can show at a time
  • Your location isn't on the map yet. Allow up to 48 hours after connecting your Facebook Page
