How to post a story on your Facebook Page

A Page story shares something with your followers for 24 hours. Meta says each photo or video is available in the Stories section on Facebook and in Messenger for that time, then moves to your story archive, which only you can see.

Who can post depends on access: with Facebook access to the Page you can share stories on Facebook, and people with Facebook or task access can create them in Meta Business Suite, where you need full control or content permission.

Meta's steps for a photo story:

1. Log in to Facebook, then click your profile photo in the top right.
2. Click See all profiles and select the Page.
3. From the Page's Feed, click Create story at the top.
4. Click Create a photo story and select a photo from your computer.
5. Click Add text to add text and choose its style and colour.
6. Click Add button to add a button that opens your shop on Facebook or a linked site.
7. Drag to reposition the photo, use - or + to resize it, or click Rotate.
8. Click Share to story.

Business Suite is the better route if you want several items, a link or a scheduled time, and it can post the same story to Instagram:

1. Go to Meta Business Suite and click Create story, from the home page or the Content tab.
2. Under Post to, choose your Facebook Page, Instagram profile or both.
3. Under Media, click Add photo/video to upload up to ten photos or videos.
4. Click Edit on each item to crop, trim a video or add text, mentions or stickers.
5. Click Add link to add a URL viewers can visit.
6. Under Scheduling options, choose Share now or Schedule and pick the date and time.
7. Click Share or Schedule.

In Business Suite, click Content in the left menu, then the Stories tab. Choose Active, Scheduled or Archived, select a story, and use the ... icon to publish, reschedule or delete it. Click a published or archived story to see its insights. Meta says you can also boost a story from here.

Common causes and fixes:

• No Create story button: you're probably still on your personal profile. Switch into the Page first.
• You have task access only: Meta's Facebook steps are for people with Facebook access, so use Meta Business Suite instead.
• You want a link: use Add link in Business Suite, or Add button in the Facebook story editor.
• You want more than one photo or a video: Business Suite takes up to ten photos or videos per story.
• A story disappeared: after 24 hours it moves to your story archive. Meta says you can also delete a photo or video from your story yourself.
