What do you need before you connect?
Meta's two help centres word this slightly differently:
- Access to the Page. The Facebook help centre says Facebook access or task access is enough; the business help centre says full control of the Page.
- A professional Instagram account (business or creator). If yours is personal, you're prompted to switch during linking, and Meta notes a professional account is public.
- The same business portfolio. If you use one, the Instagram account must be in the same portfolio as the Page, and an Instagram account can only be in one portfolio at a time.

What changes once they're connected?
Meta lists these effects of linking:
- Anyone with access to either the Page or the Instagram account can manage both.
- You can let people with Page access read and reply to Instagram comments and messages from the Page's inbox.
- People with the right access can create Instagram ads and promote posts from Facebook.
- Anyone logged in to the Instagram account can share Instagram posts to the Page, and only to that Page.
- The connection between the two may be visible to others.

Why won't Instagram connect to your Page?
Meta's troubleshooting for portfolio connections lists these causes:
- You don't have full control of the business portfolio. People who do get an email and notification to confirm the connection.
- Another person with full control needs to approve it under Requests in Meta Business Suite settings.
- The Instagram account is linked to a personal Facebook profile rather than a Page.
- The Instagram account is already in a different business portfolio. Remove it there first or ask for access.
- There's a restriction on the portfolio, ad account, user account or Page. Check Business Support Home.

How do you disconnect them?
Follow the same Facebook path to Linked accounts, click Instagram, then Disconnect account and Yes, disconnect. In the Instagram app, go to Edit profile, tap Page, then Disconnect Page. Meta warns that disconnecting a subscribed Page and Instagram account may cancel an active Meta Verified subscription.

Posting to both without doubling the work
Zolyp is our product, so weigh this section with that in mind. Linking lets you share Instagram posts to Facebook, but the same caption rarely suits both. Zolyp writes and publishes a version for each platform from one plan.
Zolyp plans the week across your content themes, writes the captions and designs the visuals against your Brand Brain (your tone, colours and rules, saved once), then schedules and publishes to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Business, X, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and Threads. You review and approve the week, and Autopilot lets you hand off publishing theme by theme once you trust the output. Plans that create the posts start at $29 a month, with a 3-day free trial and no card required.
Common questions
Do I need a business Instagram account to link a Facebook Page?
You need a professional account, which can be business or creator. If you try with a personal account, Meta prompts you to switch to professional during linking.
Can I connect one Instagram account to two Facebook Pages?
Meta says that once linked, you can only share your Instagram posts to Facebook through that Page, not to another Page or a profile.
Will connecting share my posts automatically?
No. Connecting lets you share Instagram posts to the Page; you choose when to do it.
Who can manage Instagram once it's linked?
Meta says anyone with access to either the Page or the Instagram account can manage both, so review who has access before you connect.
