How do you pin a post to your X profile?
X gives the same steps for x.com and the iPhone and Android apps:
- Go to your profile and find the post you'd like to pin.
- Select the menu icon at the top of the post.
- Select Pin to your profile.
- Select Pin to confirm.
- X's help centre describes pinning a single post, so treat the pinned spot as one slot and swap it when something more useful comes along

How do you unpin a post?
- Go to your profile page.
- On your pinned post, select the menu icon.
- Select Unpin from profile.
- Select Unpin to confirm.

What can't you do with a pinned post?
- You can't edit it. X lists pinned posts among the post types that can't currently be edited, even with X Premium, so check a post carefully before you pin it
- Editing is limited to the first hour after posting anyway, so an older post you pin later can't be changed
- If you delete a pinned post, it's removed from your profile, your followers' timelines and X search, and reposts of it are removed too
- Quote posts other people made of it stay up after you delete it

What else can you pin on X?
- Posts inside a Space: hosts and speakers can pin a post to the top of a live Space to give listeners context, and co-hosts can manage pinned posts
- Your Space announcement: X suggests pinning the post that shares your Space link to your profile for more visibility

Which post should a business pin?
Our advice, not X's. The pinned post is the first thing a new visitor reads after your bio, so pin the post that answers why they should follow you or buy from you:
- A short introduction: who you are, what you sell and where to buy, with your best photo
- A current offer, launch or event, with the date in the text so it's obvious when it's out of date
- A thread that explains your product or answers the question customers ask most
- A post that already did well. Check your analytics and pin the one people engaged with most
- Review it every month or so, and unpin anything that has expired
Why can't you pin a post?
- It's not your post. X's steps start from your own profile, with your own posts. To feature someone else's post, quote it with your comment and pin your quote post
- You're looking under the post. The pin option is in the menu at the top of the post
- The post was deleted, so it's no longer on your profile
- The app is out of date. Update it, or try on x.com
