How does verification work on Threads?
Meta Verified for creators is a paid subscription that comes with a verified badge, enhanced support and impersonation protection. Threads doesn't sell it directly. Instead, the badge follows your verified Instagram profile.
- Subscribe to Meta Verified on Instagram first
- Your Threads profile must be in the same Meta Account (Accounts Centre for some people) as the verified Instagram profile
- If both are true, the badge appears on Threads automatically
- Only the badge shows on Threads. Enhanced support and impersonation protection aren't available there
- Meta says Threads in Meta Account is rolling out slowly and isn't available everywhere

What can you change once Threads shows the badge?
Being verified through Instagram limits some Threads profile edits:
- Deleting the verified Instagram profile cancels Meta Verified and removes the badge from Threads
- Moving either profile out of the shared Meta Account removes the badge
- A revoked or cancelled subscription removes the badge
| Detail | Where to change it | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Profile picture | On Instagram only | It copies across to Threads automatically |
| Profile name and username | In Meta Account settings | They must match your verified Instagram profile or you lose the badge |

Should a small business pay for the badge?
The creator subscription covers personal and creator profiles. For business profiles, Meta points to a separate Meta Verified for businesses help centre, and its Threads page doesn't say how a business subscription shows on Threads. Check that help centre before paying.
A badge can help people trust that a profile is really yours. It doesn't change the posts themselves, and on Threads you only get the badge, not the support or impersonation protection.

Why isn't the badge showing on Threads?
- Your Threads profile isn't in the same Meta Account as the verified Instagram profile
- Threads in Meta Account hasn't reached you yet. Meta says it isn't available everywhere
- Your application is still in review. Meta says to allow up to 3 business days
- Your Threads name or username no longer matches your verified Instagram profile
- You can't change your Threads profile picture. That's expected: change it on Instagram
