What has to be true before you can deactivate a Page?

LinkedIn's requirements:

  • You're a super admin of the Page and you're on desktop.
  • The Page is active and has fewer than 100 associated members.
  • Its Showcase Pages have been deactivated first by their own super admins.
  • There's no Career Page or affiliated Page. LinkedIn support has to resolve those.
  • Active or paused ad campaigns are deleted or archived, and published Product Pages are unpublished.
  • The company hasn't been acquired.
  • If you want to reuse the URL for a new Page, you've contacted LinkedIn before deactivating.

What happens after a LinkedIn Page is deactivated?

From LinkedIn's help page:

  • The Page is hidden from members and removed from LinkedIn search.
  • Current and former employees keep the company name in their Experience section, but the logo becomes a placeholder and the link to the Page is removed.
  • Apps connected to the Page can't be moved to another Page.
  • Other Page admins can ask LinkedIn to give the URL to another Page.
  • LinkedIn's pages don't say what happens to followers or posts while the Page is deactivated.

How do you reactivate a LinkedIn Page?

Super admins get an email when the Page is deactivated. To bring it back:

  1. Open the deactivation confirmation email.
  2. Click Reactivate.
  3. If you see an error, check whether another admin has already reactivated it.
  • The Page returns as it was, with the same content, settings, follower count and admins.
  • LinkedIn doesn't state a deadline for reactivating.
  • If LinkedIn removed the Page for breaking its Professional Community Policies and you think that's a mistake, contact LinkedIn to ask for it back.

Should you deactivate at all?

LinkedIn suggests other routes in some cases:

  • Business closed or rebranded: LinkedIn suggests keeping the Page active so employees' work history still links to it. You can say the company has closed in the Page description.
  • You've left the business: remove your own admin role instead.
  • New name: change the Page name rather than starting again.
  • A second Page for the same business: ask LinkedIn to remove it as a duplicate or merge it with yours.

Where Zolyp fits

Zolyp, which publishes this guide, is our own product, so weigh this section with that in mind. Some Pages get closed because nobody has time to keep them going. If that's the reason, Zolyp writes and schedules company Page posts for you to approve each week. LinkedIn is one of the 9 platforms it publishes to (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Business, X, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and Threads), and you approve the week before anything goes live. Plans that create the posts start at $29 a month, with a 3-day free trial.

Common questions

Can you delete a LinkedIn company Page?

Not permanently. A super admin can deactivate it, which hides it from members and removes it from search.

Can I deactivate a LinkedIn Page from my phone?

No. LinkedIn says Page deactivation is only available on desktop.

What happens to employees' profiles when a Page is deactivated?

The company name stays in their Experience section, but the logo is replaced by a placeholder and the link to the Page is removed.

Can I reactivate a deactivated LinkedIn Page?

Yes. A super admin clicks Reactivate in the confirmation email, and the Page returns with its content, settings, followers and admins.

Why is there no Deactivate option on my Page?

The Page isn't eligible. Common reasons are 100 or more associated members, active Showcase Pages, a Career Page, or ads that are still active or paused.
