How to connect WhatsApp to your Facebook Page

Meta says connecting lets you run ads that click to WhatsApp: people tap a Send message button on your Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp ad and a WhatsApp chat with you opens. You can connect more than one WhatsApp number to a Page, for example to run ads with different numbers.

• Download the WhatsApp Business app first.
• You need a Facebook Page for your business. WhatsApp isn't available to link from a personal profile.
• If you use the WhatsApp Business Platform, don't follow these steps. Meta has a separate request process for Platform numbers.

Meta's steps on a computer:

1. Go to Facebook and click your profile picture in the top right.
2. Click See all profiles and choose your Page.
3. Click the Page's profile picture in the top right, then click Settings.
4. Under Permissions, click Linked accounts, then click WhatsApp.
5. Choose your country code and enter your WhatsApp Business phone number.
6. Click Send WhatsApp code, enter the code you receive and click Confirm.

Useful if you're setting up a click to WhatsApp ad anyway:

1. Go to Ads Manager, click Create and choose an objective that supports WhatsApp, such as Messages, Conversions or Traffic.
2. Choose the business Page you want to use.
3. At the ad set level, find WhatsApp under Message destinations and click Connect account.
4. Enter your WhatsApp Business phone number and follow the verification steps.

In some countries, yes. Meta says you can sync your WhatsApp Business account with Inbox in Meta Business Suite, bringing over contacts and up to six months of individual chat history, so several team members can reply. It isn't available in the UK, the EU and European Economic Area, Australia, Japan, Nigeria, the Philippines, Russia, South Africa, South Korea or Turkey.

1. In Meta Business Suite, select your Page or Instagram profile from the drop-down in the top left.
2. Click Inbox, then the WhatsApp tab.
3. Click Get started and follow the on-screen instructions. Keep your phone charged and the WhatsApp Business app open during setup.

• Group chats don't transfer, and WhatsApp groups and status aren't available in Inbox.
• Open the WhatsApp Business app at least once every 20 days, or the sync disconnects and you'll need to connect again.

The error "WhatsApp number linked to another Facebook business" means the number is already an asset in another business portfolio. Someone with full control of that portfolio needs to remove it:

1. Go to Meta Business Suite and select the business portfolio the WhatsApp account may be connected to.
2. Click Settings, then WhatsApp accounts under Accounts.
3. Click the WhatsApp Business account, then the three dots on the right.
4. Click Remove from business portfolio, then connect your Page again.

1. Switch into your Page and click its profile picture in the top right.
2. Click Settings and privacy, then Settings.
3. In the left menu under Permissions, click Linked accounts, then WhatsApp.
4. Click Remove, then Remove again to confirm.
