Why do people look for a Tailwind alternative?
Tailwind is built for Pinterest: it drafts Pins from your site, writes titles and descriptions, researches keywords and spaces out your schedule. People usually look elsewhere because of:
- Separate products per Pinterest account: Pin Scheduling & Creation is $17.99 a month billed yearly ($29.99 monthly); Pinterest SEO and Pinterest Engagement are $11.99 each billed yearly ($14.99 monthly). The bundle of all three is listed at $29.98 a month.
- Credits: scheduling a Pin uses 1 credit. Pin Scheduling & Creation includes 300 a month and the other products 50; extra credits are $10 per 100.
- Its pricing page describes Pinterest features only, so other networks need another tool.
- You can start free with no card, but the pricing page doesn't list the free plan's limits.
- Annual plans are billed upfront for the year.

Pinterest's own scheduler: the free option
Pinterest lets business accounts schedule Pins up to 30 days in advance, with up to 10 Pins scheduled at a time, from the website or the app. A business account is free. After scheduling you can change the time, title, board, description and link, but not the image or video.
Best for: a business posting a handful of Pins a week that doesn't need keyword tools or bulk design.

Buffer: Pinterest plus your other channels, free to start
Buffer publishes automatically to Pinterest business and personal accounts, alongside Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok and more. The free plan covers 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts each at a time, and the Canva integration is on every plan. Essentials is $5 per channel a month billed yearly ($6 monthly); Team ($10 per channel) adds unlimited team members and approvals.
Best for: small businesses where Pinterest is one channel among a few.

Later: visual planning with Pinterest included
Every Later social set includes 8 profiles, Pinterest among them, with Pin scheduling, auto publishing and Pinterest click tracking on all plans. Starter is $18.75 a month billed yearly for 1 social set, 1 user and 30 posts per profile. Growth ($37.50) raises that to 2 sets, 2 users and 180 posts, with a social inbox and approvals. Pinterest analytics cover up to 3 months on every plan. The trial is 14 days.

Metricool: Pinterest analytics on a free plan
Metricool connects Pinterest on its free plan, which covers 1 brand, 20 posts a month and 30 days of analytics. Starter, $20 a month billed yearly ($25 monthly), manages up to 5 brands with unlimited posts under a fair use policy, unlimited analytics history, reports and a Canva integration; LinkedIn starts here, and X is an add-on.
Best for: people who want to see how Pins perform next to their other networks.

Canva: design Pins and schedule them
If you design Pins in Canva already, its Content Planner can schedule them to Pinterest. Scheduling needs a paid plan: Pro is $144 a year for one person. Each design can be scheduled to only one platform at a time, and Canva Free can't schedule at all.
Best for: designers who make every Pin by hand and post to Pinterest and a few other places.

Zolyp: when making the posts is the problem
Zolyp is our product, so weigh this section with that in mind. Tailwind is a specialist: deep on Pinterest, and Pinterest only. Zolyp makes the opposite trade-off, covering Pinterest as one of several networks.
Zolyp plans the week across your content themes, writes the captions and designs the visuals against your Brand Brain (your tone, colours and rules, saved once), fits each post to its platform, and publishes to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Business, X, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and Threads. You approve the week in minutes, and once a content pillar needs few edits you can hand it to Autopilot, with a veto window to pull any post before it goes out. Lite is $9 a month per brand for scheduling your own posts; the plans that create the posts start at $29 a month, with a 3-day free trial and no card required.
Zolyp has no Pinterest keyword research or engagement tools like Tailwind's Turbo, so if Pinterest SEO is the main job, keep a Pinterest-specific tool.
How do you choose?
Decide how central Pinterest is to you:
- A few Pins a week, no budget: Pinterest's own scheduler.
- Pinterest plus a couple of other channels: Buffer, starting free.
- Planning a visual feed across Pinterest, Instagram and TikTok: Later.
- Analytics first: Metricool.
- You design every Pin in Canva: Canva Pro.
- Pinterest is your main traffic source and you need keyword research: stay with a Pinterest-specific tool.

What should you check before you switch?
Pinterest work builds up over time, so check:
- Write down the keywords you track in Tailwind before you cancel the SEO product.
- List the pages SmartPin turns into weekly Pins, so you keep making fresh Pins from them.
- Check that the new tool publishes to the board and account type you use.
How do you switch tools without missing a post?
A clean switch takes an afternoon:
- Export or write down everything still scheduled in your current tool, with dates and times. Download any reports you want to keep, too.
- Connect the same accounts in the new tool and check each one can publish.
- Recreate the scheduled posts there, checking the time zone setting first.
- Pause or empty the old queue so nothing goes out twice.
- Watch the first few posts go live before you cancel the old plan. On a yearly plan, check when it renews.
