TikTok GMV Max: how to set up Product GMV Max for TikTok Shop

GMV Max optimises for your TikTok Shop's total return on ad spend, using signals from both organic and paid traffic. There are two types: Product GMV Max, which promotes products, and LIVE GMV Max, which drives traffic to your LIVE streams.

• Product GMV Max runs across the TikTok feed, search, the Shop Tab and TikTok Ad Network, as videos and product cards.
• It creates and pauses ads for you, using your own videos and authorised affiliate videos.
• It counts same-day orders with a one-day attribution window.
• All orders for advertised products, including organic and affiliate orders, are attributed to GMV Max in Seller Center.
• Affiliate videos featuring your GMV Max products get a commercial content label. In the EU and UK this is applied automatically.

TikTok says GMV Max is designed for all TikTok Shop advertisers. Before you start:

• Your TikTok Shop must be connected to Business Center.
• The ad account needs GMV Max authorisation for the shop. Only the shop's primary ad account, set in Seller Center, can run GMV Max.
• You need Admin or Advertising Manager permission for the shop.
• Availability differs between TikTok's pages. The Ads Manager guide lists Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and the United States. The Seller Center guide also includes the United Kingdom.
• Products already in Video Shopping Ads, Product Shopping Ads or another GMV Max campaign must be removed from those first.

TikTok's Seller Center steps:

1. In Seller Center, click Shop Ads in the left-hand menu.
2. Click Create GMV Max ads.
3. Click Promote products.
4. Choose Promote all products in TikTok Shop, or click +Add product to pick specific ones.
5. Under Optimization goal, set an ROI target or accept the recommended one.
6. Under Budget, enter a daily budget.
7. Under Schedule, choose when the campaign starts. It runs continuously after that.
8. Click Publish. Reporting appears in the Overview tab in Seller Center.

• In TikTok Ads Manager the route is GMV Max at the top of the dashboard, then choose your shop, click Next, Create GMV Max ads and Promote products. The remaining steps match.

• Include as many products as you can, prioritising ones that already sell well.
• Use Auto-select videos and include affiliate videos, which TikTok says often perform better.

This is how GMV Max is designed. TikTok's rules:

• A Video Shopping Ad that includes any product in an active Product GMV Max campaign is paused, in any ad account.
• Product Shopping Ads stop showing the products in your GMV Max campaign. Other products keep running.
• An active LIVE GMV Max campaign pauses LIVE Shopping Ads for the shop's official TikTok account.
• Changing the shop's primary ad account pauses GMV Max campaigns in the old one.
• When GMV Max ends, paused ads don't restart automatically. Restart them by hand.
• If Create GMV Max ads is greyed out, check you have operator or admin access to the ad account and that it has GMV Max authorisation.
