How do you mention someone in a post?
- Start a new thread or a reply.
- Type @ followed by the person's username, with no space (for example @username).
- Finish your post and tap Post.
- You can also go to their profile and tap Mention at the top to start a new post that mentions them
- People can tap the mention to go to that profile

How do you tag people in a photo?
Meta's help centre gives these steps for threads.com:
- Start a new thread or reply to a post.
- Click the attach icon and add a photo.
- Click the menu icon on the attached photo, then Tag people.
- Click a spot on the photo.
- Enter the person's name or username and click their name.
- Click Done in the top right, then Post.
- The person gets a notification that they've been tagged
- Others tap the tag icon on the photo to see who's tagged, and tap a name to visit that profile
- To remove a tag before posting, click the remove icon next to the person's name

Who sees a photo you tag someone in?
It depends on your profile's privacy setting:

How do you control who can mention or tag you?
In the app:
- Tap Profile or your profile picture in the bottom right.
- Tap Menu in the top right.
- Tap Privacy, then Tags and mentions.
- Below Allow @mentions from, choose Everyone, Profiles you follow or No one.
- Below Allow tags from, choose who can tag you in photos.
- Someone outside your chosen audience who tries to mention or tag you sees that you don't allow it
- If your profile is private and you choose Everyone, only people you follow can tag you in a photo
- People you block can't mention or tag you
- Meta's help pages say teenagers can only be mentioned or tagged by profiles they follow

How do you remove yourself from a photo?
If someone tagged you and you'd rather they hadn't:
- Open the post with the photo.
- Tap the photo.
- Tap the tag icon in the bottom left.
- Tap Remove tag next to your name, then Remove to confirm.
- You can also tap your name on the photo and tap Remove tag

Why can't you tag or mention someone on Threads?
- Their settings don't allow it. You'll see a message that they don't allow mentions or tags from everyone
- There's a space after the @. The username must follow the @ directly
- They didn't get a notification. On a private profile, a tagged person is only notified if they follow you
- It's a paid post. If a brand paid you or gave you something, Meta requires the paid partnership label as well as the @ mention of the brand
