How to add and switch between Threads profiles

In the Threads app for iPhone or Android:

1. Tap Profile or your profile picture in the bottom right.
2. Tap Menu in the top right.
3. Tap Switch profiles at the bottom, then tap Add profile.
4. Tap Log in with another Instagram account and sign in.

• You can create one Threads profile for each Instagram account and each Facebook account you have
• Each profile is created by signing in with an Instagram or Facebook account

Meta's computer help describes logging out rather than a profile switcher:

1. Click Menu on the left.
2. Click Log out.
3. Enter the username and password of the profile you want to use.

• If you created a Threads profile with Instagram or Facebook, its password is most likely the same as that account's
• Log out when you finish on a computer other people use

• Who you follow on Threads, and who follows you, doesn't change your Instagram or Facebook followers
• A verified badge on the Instagram account you sign up with shows on Threads. A verified Facebook account's badge doesn't carry over
• Deleting a Threads profile doesn't delete the Instagram or Facebook profile behind it
• After deleting a Threads profile, you have to wait 90 days before signing up again with the same Instagram profile

Our suggestions, not Meta's:

• Keep one Threads profile per brand or location, created from that brand's own Instagram account
• Check which profile is active before you post or reply. Tapping and holding your picture shows the list
• Turn on two-factor authentication for every profile, not just the main one
• Give each profile its own name and picture so customers can't mix them up

• The profile isn't in the list. Tap Switch profiles at the bottom to see the rest
• Add profile only offers Instagram. Meta's app steps describe adding a profile with another Instagram account
• That Instagram account already has a Threads profile. Each Instagram or Facebook account can have one
• You recently deleted the profile. You have to wait 90 days before signing up again with the same Instagram profile
• You're on a computer. Meta's steps for threads.com are to log out and log back in with the other account
