Who can go live on LinkedIn?
Anyone can watch a LinkedIn Live, but only eligible members and Pages can broadcast one. There's no application form and no Premium requirement. LinkedIn's criteria:
- More than 150 followers and/or connections.
- A good-standing record under LinkedIn's Professional Community Policies.
- Not based in mainland China.
- An account or Page created at least 30 days ago.
- Profile and Page access are separate: a member streams to their profile, and a Page admin streams on behalf of the Page. A member broadcaster can't stream to a Page, and a Page admin can't stream to their own profile as the Page.

How do you get LinkedIn Live access?
Access is checked when you try to use it. LinkedIn also says you can't stream from LinkedIn itself: you need a streaming tool.
- Check you meet the criteria above.
- Start creating a LinkedIn Event. If you're eligible, LinkedIn Live appears in the Event format dropdown. If it's missing, you don't meet the criteria yet.
- For a Page, switch the Organizer dropdown to the Page so the Page is reviewed, not your profile.
- Or log in to a preferred partner tool (LinkedIn lists Restream, Socialive, StreamYard and Switcher), connect your LinkedIn account and allow access. You're told straight away whether you're approved.
- If you're turned down, check again once your follower count or account age has changed.

How do you schedule a LinkedIn Live event?
LinkedIn removed spontaneous Lives on 22 June 2026, so every stream starts as a scheduled event. You can still schedule one a few minutes ahead. On desktop:
- Click the Home icon, then Events in the left pane, then Create an Event.
- Upload a 16:9 cover image at least 480 pixels wide (for example 1280 x 720) and add alt text.
- Choose the Organizer (your profile or a Page), set Event type to Online and Event format to LinkedIn Live.
- Add the event name, time zone, start date and time, a description and any speakers.
- Click Next, write a short post to announce the event, choose who can see it and click Post. The event isn't created until you do.
- The Organizer, Event type and Event format can't be changed after posting.
- People who click Attend get reminders three days and 15 minutes before, and a notification when you go live.
- LinkedIn suggests scheduling at least two weeks ahead to build attendance.
- Only Pages can use LinkedIn's registration form, and not for events created in third-party tools.

How do you start the stream?
Beginners usually stream from a partner tool, which handles the connection. If you use your own software (LinkedIn names OBS and Zoom as examples), go live with a custom RTMP stream from LinkedIn's Live Studio:
- Open the Manage stream page in the Live Studio.
- Click Prepare to go live. It becomes available one hour before the start (two hours for verified Pages).
- Pick your region in Stream settings and click Get URL.
- Paste the Stream URL and Stream Key into your streaming software and start streaming.
- Check the preview in the Live Studio, then click Go live. You can go live from 15 minutes before to two hours after the scheduled start; after that the event shows as cancelled.
- Click End Stream when you finish.
- LinkedIn recommends at least 10 minutes; the maximum is four hours.
- All Lives are public and recorded. Afterwards the video stays on your profile or Page as Previously recorded live, and organisers can download it from the Event Details page.
- For a Page, any content admin or super admin can start the broadcast from a partner tool.

Why isn't LinkedIn Live working?
LinkedIn's troubleshooting advice, by symptom:
| Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
| No LinkedIn Live option in Event format | You don't meet the criteria yet; for a Page, change the Organizer to the Page |
| Errors in your broadcast tool | Authenticate your profile and each Page separately |
| Worked before, fails now | Disconnect LinkedIn from the tool and reconnect it |
| Can't connect at all | Ask your network admin to open TCP ports 1935, 1936, 2935 and 2936 |
| RTMP stream won't process | Switch the encoder to the Baseline video profile |
| Region out of bandwidth | Pick the next closest region |
| Can't see your stream or comments | Watch on a second device; LinkedIn suggests one person moderates comments |

Where Zolyp fits
Zolyp, which publishes this guide, is our own product, so weigh this section with that in mind. Zolyp doesn't stream video. It can write and schedule the ordinary posts around a Live, such as a reminder before it and a recap afterwards, alongside the rest of your LinkedIn week. LinkedIn is one of the 9 platforms it publishes to (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Business, X, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and Threads), and you approve the week before anything goes live. Plans that create the posts start at $29 a month, with a 3-day free trial.
