How do you block someone?
From a post in your feed:
- Tap Options on a post shared by the profile.
- Tap Block.
- Tap Block at the bottom to confirm.
- From their profile: tap Search, find them, open their profile, tap Options in the top right, then Block
- From a chat: tap Messages, open the conversation, tap the icon in the top right, then Block
- To unblock, tap Unblock below their follower count on their profile, or use the same Options menu

How do you restrict someone?
Restricting is quieter than blocking. You can restrict anyone, even people you don't follow:
- Tap Search, then the search bar at the top.
- Type their name and tap search on your keyboard.
- Tap their name to open their profile.
- Tap Options in the top right, then Restrict.
- You won't get notifications when they interact with your posts
- They can still see and reply to your posts, but their replies may be hidden from others or need your approval
- Their chat moves to your Requests folder, and you can read their messages without them knowing
- Restricting someone on Instagram doesn't restrict them on Threads, and the other way round

How do you mute someone?
Muting works on people you follow. From your feed:
- Tap Options on one of their posts.
- Tap Mute.
- You can also mute from their profile: tap Options in the top right, then Mute
- To see who you've muted, go to your profile, tap Menu, then Content preferences and Muted. Tap Unmute next to a name
- They aren't told, and you still follow them

What changes when you block, restrict or mute?
- Blocking removes their likes from your posts, and unblocking doesn't bring them back
- Their replies to your posts can't be seen by others after you block them
- If you share a group chat, Threads asks whether to stay or leave. If you stay, you'll both see each other's messages there

How do you report a post or profile?
Report anything that breaks Threads' Community Standards:
- Tap Options in the top right of the post, or on their profile.
- Tap Report.
- Follow the on-screen steps and choose a reason.
- Reasons include spam, scams or fraud, bullying or harassment, hate speech, false information and intellectual property violations
- You can also report a profile for pretending to be someone else, or for belonging to a child under 13
- Reports are anonymous, except intellectual property reports
- To check a report, open Instagram, tap your profile picture, then Menu. Below More info and support, tap Help, then Support Requests and Reports

Why is someone still bothering you?
- They can still reply. Restricted people can reply, so block them if that isn't enough
- You restricted them on Instagram only. Restrict them on Threads too
- There's no Mute option. Mute is for profiles you follow, so unfollow or block instead
- They're on another fediverse server. Threads has a separate request to block fediverse users
- Your report isn't listed. Meta says not every report is viewable in Support Requests

Common questions
Does Threads tell someone when you block them?
No. Meta says people aren't notified when you block them. The same goes for restricting and muting.
Can someone I blocked see my Threads posts?
No. Meta says they won't be able to see anything you post, or find your profile or content on Threads.
What's the difference between restrict and block on Threads?
A restricted person can still see your posts and reply, but replies may be hidden or held for approval. A blocked person can't see your profile at all.
Does restricting someone on Instagram restrict them on Threads?
No. Meta says you need to restrict them separately on each app.
Are Threads reports anonymous?
Yes, except when you report intellectual property infringement. The person you report won't see who reported them.
