What is a business group?
Google describes a business group as a shared folder for your profiles. Its owners and managers can reach every current and future profile in it, so you can give staff or an agency access once instead of profile by profile.
- Sign in to Business Profile Manager.
- If you have 2 or more profiles, select Create group at the top right.
- Enter a group name.
- Select Create.
- To move profiles in, select them, then Actions, then Transfer businesses, choose the group and select Transfer.
- Google recommends one group per business or brand. Separate groups suit separate brands or divisions, but then you can't see every profile in one dashboard.
- You can only transfer profiles into a group you own or manage, and a group can't be a manager of another group.
- To delete a group you must be an owner and first remove or transfer all its businesses. Deleting it can't be undone.

How do you add locations with a spreadsheet?
- Sign in to Business Profile Manager.
- Select Add profile at the top right, then Import profiles.
- Download the blank template. A sample spreadsheet and an attributes reference spreadsheet are also available.
- Fill in each location, including every business you manage.
- Upload the file, then fix any errors Google highlights before the locations can be published.
| Column | Google's rule |
|---|---|
| Business code | Required. Unique for each location, up to 64 characters, not shown on Google. |
| Business name | Required. Up to 100 characters, in title case, not all capitals. |

| Business description | Optional. Up to 750 characters, with no promotions, prices, URLs or HTML. |

How do you bulk verify your locations?
Bulk verification needs at least 10 profiles for the same business; duplicate, suspended or disabled profiles don't count. Only owners or authorised representatives can apply, and Google says an email address on your business's own domain speeds it up.
- Sign in to Business Profile Manager on a computer.
- Select Verifications, then Chain, then Start.
- Complete the form.
- Select Submit. Google emails you when bulk verification succeeds.
- Uploading a spreadsheet doesn't send a verification request on its own.
- Service-area businesses can't bulk verify, and nor can an agency managing more than one business in a single account.
- Some businesses may need video verification, which needs an authorised representative at the location.
- Google may revoke bulk verification for misuse, and may de-verify accounts that don't actively manage their profiles.

How do you keep many locations up to date?
Edit locations in your dashboard, or upload a revised spreadsheet. When you re-upload, you can delete columns you don't need, but always keep the Business code column so Google knows which location each row is.
- Empty columns with headings delete the existing information for that field, so remove columns you aren't changing.
- If a location moves, replace its old business code with a new one.
- Hotel attributes can't be updated by spreadsheet; use the dashboard or the API.
- Holiday hours for many locations: our special hours guide covers the options.

Why can't you bulk verify or upload?
The common causes Google lists:
- No Verifications tab: you may not have enough eligible profiles. Verify each one individually instead.
- A verified account for the business already exists, or someone else verified some locations: request access to those rather than claiming them.
- The upload fails on old columns: fields such as Main phone, Categories and Description have been replaced or renamed, for example Main phone is now Primary phone. Remove unsupported columns before importing.
- Photos won't upload: download a fresh spreadsheet and try again.
- Verification is slow: Google says addresses outside your business domain take longer and its support team may need to contact you, so use an inbox someone checks.
