What else is in Advanced settings?

Changes here save automatically.

  • Automated calls and texts from Google: turn on or off the calls Google uses to take bookings, keep your details current or confirm prices and availability.
  • Phone number: show or hide your business number on your profile.
  • Labels: group profiles in your bulk upload spreadsheet. They aren't shown publicly.
  • Store code: organise several locations and use bulk uploads. Google says you need store codes for local inventory ads.
  • Google Ads phone number: show a different number in your Google Ads location asset.
  • Share data: whether Google can use your account data for offers and recommendations. This applies to the whole profile, whichever owner or manager changes it.

How do you find a Place ID?

Google documents Place IDs on its Maps Platform developer site rather than in Business Profile Help.

  1. Open Google's Place IDs page for the Places API.
  2. Use the Place ID finder on that page to search for your business.
  3. Copy the ID shown, which looks like a long string of letters and numbers.
  4. If you're a developer, you can also get it from the id field in a Places API Text Search response.
  • The same place can have more than one Place ID, and IDs can change over time.
  • Google recommends refreshing Place IDs more than 12 months old.
  • Place IDs can be stored; they're exempt from Google Maps Platform's caching restrictions.

Why can't you find your ID, or why has it stopped working?

Check these:

  • You're signed in to the wrong account. You need the Google Account linked to the profile to see its settings.
  • A Place ID returns NOT_FOUND. Google says this happens when an ID is obsolete, for example because the business closed or moved. Look it up again.
  • A Place ID returns INVALID_REQUEST. The ID may have been cut short or changed when it was copied.
  • You need help from Google. Give support your Business Profile ID, not your Place ID.

Common questions

Is the Business Profile ID the same as the Place ID?

No. Google documents them separately: the Business Profile ID identifies your listing for support, and the Place ID identifies a place on Google Maps for developers.

Where do I find my store code on Google Business Profile?

Go to your Business Profile, select More, then Business Profile settings, then Advanced settings.

Can my Google Place ID change?

Yes. Google says Place IDs can change as its Maps database is updated, and recommends refreshing IDs more than 12 months old.

How do I stop Google's automated calls to my business?

Turn off Automated calls and texts from Google in Advanced settings. Google uses them to take bookings or confirm your details.

How do I hide my phone number on Google Business Profile?

In Advanced settings, under Phone number, choose not to show it on your profile.
