The best time to post on TikTok in 2026

On TikTok the studies disagree more than on any other platform. One found weekday afternoons best and Sunday worst; another found weekends and evenings best. That gap is the useful finding: there is no safe average. TikTok Analytics shows when your own followers are active, and testing against that will tell you more than any study.

What the published studies found

These are other companies' studies, summarised in our words with a link to each. They measure different accounts in different ways, so read them as a starting point to test, not a rule.

  • Buffer

    Weekends and evenings led. Saturday was the best day, with Monday and Sunday close behind, Sunday morning was the top single slot, and evenings generally beat afternoons. Buffer normalised the times so they read as local time.

  • Sprout Social

    Weekday afternoons led: Tuesday to Thursday, roughly 2pm to 6pm, were the strongest windows, and Sunday was the weakest day. All times are in the audience's local time.

  • Hootsuite

    Hootsuite's top windows were Thursday morning and a long Saturday window from late morning to early evening. Times were localised across 118 countries.

Where they agree: There is little agreement. Sprout Social found weekday afternoons best and Sunday worst, while Buffer found Saturday the best day and Sunday morning the top slot. Hootsuite sits in between, with Thursday morning and Saturday both strong. Treat TikTok averages with extra caution and lean on your own follower activity.

What TikTok itself says

TikTok's For You feed is personalised. Among the reasons TikTok lists for showing a post are that you engaged with similar posts, the post is popular in your country, you follow the creator, and that the post was created recently.

How to see when your TikTok audience is online

TikTok Analytics includes follower activity, shown in your local time zone. You need at least one public post to see Analytics.

  1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
  2. Tap the Menu button at the top, then select TikTok Studio.
  3. Open Analytics.
  4. Find follower activity in your follower or viewer data (the tab name has changed between app versions) and note the busiest hours and days.
  5. Remember that follower activity is in your local time zone but most other analytics are in UTC, so convert before comparing them.
  6. Post just before the busiest window for two to three weeks, then compare views and engagement with your earlier posts.

Tips that work whatever the study says

  • Post 30 to 60 minutes before your followers' peak so the video has time to get its first views.
  • Test one slot change at a time for two to three weeks. TikTok results swing a lot from post to post, so one video proves nothing.
  • Videos on the For You feed can keep finding viewers after the first day, so judge a post over several days, not the first hour.
  • If your followers are in a different country, plan around their time zone. TikTok's follower activity chart uses your local time.
  • Consistency matters more than the exact minute. A regular schedule gives you cleaner data to compare.

Common questions

What is the best day to post on TikTok?

The studies disagree. Buffer found Saturday best, Sprout Social found Tuesday to Thursday best and called Sunday the weakest day, and Hootsuite picked Thursday and Saturday. Your follower activity in TikTok Analytics is a better guide.

Does posting time matter on TikTok?

Somewhat. The For You feed is personalised, so a video can reach people who don't follow you at any time. TikTok does list being created recently as one reason a post is recommended, so posting when your audience is around still helps.

Why can't I see follower activity in TikTok Analytics?

TikTok says Analytics needs at least one public post, only covers posts made after Analytics was turned on, and can take 1 to 2 days to update. Menu names also change between app versions, so look under your follower or viewer data.
