What does tagging someone on LinkedIn do?

LinkedIn calls a tag in post or comment text a mention. Once you post, the person you mentioned gets an email and an app notification, and their name in your post links to their profile. The @ works for people, companies and schools, so tagging a company means mentioning its LinkedIn Page.

Photos have a separate tag feature: you click on the image and tag the people in it. Both kinds of tag notify the person and link to them.
