How do you create a playlist in YouTube Studio?

For a business channel, YouTube Studio is the better place to build playlists, because you set the title, description, visibility and order in one go. Group videos the way a customer would look for them: one playlist per service, product or common question.

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. In the top-right corner, click Create, then New playlist.
  3. Enter a playlist title and description.
  4. Use the drop-down box to choose the playlist's visibility.
  5. Choose how the videos will be arranged from the menu next to it.
  6. Click Add videos, pick the videos, then click Create.

How do you make a playlist from a video or Short?

You can also start a playlist while watching, which is handy when the videos already exist. The same steps work for a Short.

To add another video later, open it, click More, then Save, and pick the playlist. A message at the bottom of the screen confirms which playlist it went into. If a video's audience is set as made for kids, you can't add it to a playlist from the homepage, but you can from search results.

  1. Go to the watch page of a video or Short you want in the playlist.
  2. Click More, then Save, then Create new playlist.
  3. Enter a name for the playlist.
  4. Choose the privacy setting. A private playlist is visible only to you.
  5. Click Create.

Which visibility should a playlist have?

Visibility decides who can find the playlist. For a business, public playlists are the useful kind, because they can appear in search and recommendations. Unlisted suits a series you only send by link, such as videos for new customers.

  1. To change it later, sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. Select Content, then Playlists.
  3. On the playlist, click Details.
  4. Under Visibility, choose the new setting.
  5. Click Save.

How do you edit, reorder and share a playlist?

Most playlist housekeeping starts from the Playlists tab in YouTube Studio:

  1. In YouTube Studio, select Content, then the Playlists tab.
  2. To change the title or description, hover over the playlist, click Details, edit and click Save.
  3. To reorder videos, open the playlist's menu, select Edit on YouTube, then drag videos up or down.
  4. To add videos, open the playlist details and select More, then Add videos. You can add from search, a URL or your library.
  5. To share it, select Share in the playlist details and choose where to send it.
  • Collaborators: open the playlist, select Share, then Invite collaborators. A private playlist has to be made unlisted or public first. Turning Collaborate off removes every collaborator.
  • Filters: on a computer, chips in a playlist show All, Shorts or Videos.
  • Podcasts: in Content, then Playlists, open a playlist's menu and choose Set as podcast. You'll need a square podcast thumbnail.

Why can't I create or edit a playlist?

Playlist problems usually come down to a short list of causes. Check them in this order:

  1. You may have hit the daily limit on new public playlists, which counts across the YouTube app, YouTube Music and the YouTube API. Try again the next day; channels with advanced features get a higher limit.
  2. Check the title and description for < or > characters, and that the title is no longer than 150 characters.
  3. If you're on a supervised account, playlist features may not be available.
  4. If you can't reorder, check whether the playlist contains only Shorts. Reordering isn't available for those.
  5. If a playlist has gone from YouTube Analytics, it may have been deleted. Its URL and title disappear from Analytics, though its watch time still counts in broader reports.

It creates video uploads and Shorts with titles and descriptions written for search, can set a custom thumbnail on a standard video, and schedules them with the posts on your other networks.
