How do you embed a single X post?
X says embedding is only available on x.com, so do this from a browser rather than the app.
- On x.com, select the icon in the post you want to embed.
- Select Embed post from the menu.
- publish.x.com opens. Click set customization options to change how it looks.
- If the post is a reply, tick Hide Conversation to leave out the original post.
- Click Copy Code.
- Paste the code into your website or blog.

What else can you embed from X?
publish.x.com, X's embed tool, offers more than single posts. Paste an X URL into its box to see the options:
- Embedded Post: one post, with its photos, videos and GIFs
- Embedded Timeline: a responsive stream of posts, which X suggests for showing top posts from a profile
- Embedded Video: for video-only posts or live broadcasts
- X Buttons: Share, Follow, Mention, Hashtag and Message buttons
- Embedded Broadcast

How do replies, media and protected posts appear?
- Photos and videos uploaded to X display in the embed, as does content described by a link
- A reply shows the parent post above it, with links to both posts and to the replier's profile. Hide Conversation removes the parent
- Posts from protected accounts have no embed code
- If a post is later deleted, made protected or its account suspended, the text stays visible on your site but X's code no longer loads the media

What should a small business embed?
Our suggestions:
- A customer's public post praising you, on a reviews or testimonials page
- Your launch or announcement post, so website visitors can reply or repost it
- A Follow button in your site footer
- An embedded timeline on a news page, if you post on X often enough to keep it fresh
- Recheck embeds now and then: a deleted post leaves only its text behind

Why won't your X embed work?
- There's no Embed post option: you're in the app. Use x.com in a browser
- No embed code appears: the account protects its posts
- Images or video are missing: the post was deleted, protected or suspended after you embedded it
- The original post shows above yours: it's a reply, so tick Hide Conversation and copy the code again
- The code shows as plain text on your page: X's instructions are to paste it into your site's HTML, so use your editor's HTML or code block
