How to edit an Instagram post after posting

On instagram.com it's the same: click Options in the top right of the post, click Edit, change the caption and click Done.

1. Tap Options above your photo or video.
2. Tap Edit.
3. Edit, delete or add a caption, then tap Done.

Instagram writes automatic alt text using object recognition, for people who use screen readers. You can replace it with a better description:

1. Go to the photo and tap Options.
2. Tap Edit.
3. Tap Edit Alt Text in the bottom right.
4. Write the alt text and tap Done.

• Before sharing, you'll find it under More options, then Write alt text
• The description is only read out to people using a screen reader

1. Go to your profile and open the post, then tap Options in the top right.
2. Tap Edit.
3. Tap Tag people (you may need to tap Tag first), then tap someone in the post.
4. Enter their name or username and tap it in the list.
5. Tap Done in the top right, then Done again to confirm.

• To add a location: tap Options, then Edit, then Add Location below your username, enter it and tap Done
• To change or remove one: tap the location name, tap Edit location, then Change Location or Remove Location
• Tagging a business or creator account lets you show their profile category: tap Show profile category below their name

Reels keep their edit option under Manage:

1. Open your reel and tap Options in the bottom right.
2. Tap Manage, then Edit to change things like the caption and location.
3. For a carousel, tap the three-dot menu on the post and tap Edit.
4. Long press to reorder photos or videos, or remove one, and edit captions, location or tags.
5. Tap Done to save.

• You want to add a photo or video to a carousel. Instagram doesn't allow new media after sharing; you can only reorder, remove or delete the post
• You can't tag someone. They may have changed who can tag them, and a private account can only tag its followers
• Your location isn't found. You can only tag locations that already exist on Instagram, though a business profile can show its address
• It's someone else's post. You can't tag people in another account's post
• You can't find Edit on a reel. It's under Options, then Manage
