How to edit a post on X (Twitter)

Editing is a paid feature. X says you need X Premium or a Plus, Premium, Super or Ultra plan on The X Subscription; X lists editing in every Premium tier, including Basic. You can only edit posts you've written, and edits are timestamped. Without a subscription, the fix for a mistake is to delete the post and post it again.

The post now shows an edited icon and a Last edited label, which opens the edit history.

1. Publish your post. X shows a notification that you can edit it for the next 1 hour.
2. On the post, select the menu icon at the top right.
3. Select Edit post.
4. Make your changes: fix text, tag someone or reorder the media you attached.
5. Select Update in the top right corner of the composer.

• Time: 1 hour after you send the post
• Number of edits: up to 5 within that hour
• Post types: original posts and quote posts only
• Device: you must edit from the device you posted from. A post sent from the iPhone app is edited in the iPhone app; one sent from x.com is edited on x.com
• Replies to yourself: once you've replied to your own post, the original can no longer be edited
• Not editable: threads, replies, promoted posts, polls, pinned posts, posts from a third-party service, posts sent through X Pro and subscriber posts

• Everyone. The edited label shows to anyone who sees the post
• Anyone can open the post to see all previously published versions
• Likes, reposts and replies from earlier versions stay on the post
• An edited post can be reported for abuse like any other

Undo post is different: it holds a post privately for a few seconds before it goes out, so you can pull it back. It's on by default when you subscribe to Premium. To set the delay on x.com:

1. Select Premium in the side navigation.
2. Select the gear icon in the top right corner.
3. Select Undo post.
4. Choose 5, 10, 20, 30 or 60 seconds under Post Undo period, and tick which post types it applies to: original posts, replies, polls, quotes and threads.

• To use it, send your post, select View post in the notification and select Undo before the timer ends. You go back to the composer to fix it
• Followers can't see the post until the timer ends or you select Send now

If none of that can be fixed, delete and repost: on your profile, select the menu icon at the top of the post, select Delete post, then Delete. X has no bulk delete. Deleting also removes reposts of the post, but other people's quote posts of it stay up.

• You don't have a Premium subscription or a paid plan on The X Subscription
• More than an hour has passed, or you've already made 5 edits
• You're on a different device from the one you posted from
• It's a type X doesn't allow, such as a reply, poll, thread or pinned post
• You replied to your own post, which locks the original
• It was posted from a scheduling tool or X Pro. Posts from third-party services can't be edited
