How do you build a menu with the menu editor?

  1. Go to your Business Profile.
  2. Above the search results, select Edit menu.
  3. To add a section, select Add menu section, enter the section name and at least one item, then select Save.
  4. To add an item to a section, select Add menu item, enter the details, such as the description and price, then select Save.
  5. To change something, select the item or section, make your edits and select Save.
  • When it works, Google shows: Your menu has been updated. The updates will be published shortly.
  • Deleting a section deletes every item in it, so move anything you want to keep first.
  • Some businesses are offered existing menu data from another source to copy and update. Under Add these menu items?, select the provider's name to review it.

How do you create a menu from a photo or PDF?

This option is experimental and you have to agree to Google's Generative AI Additional Terms of Service to use it.

  1. Go to your Business Profile and select Edit menu.
  2. Select Photos of menu, then Select photos.
  3. Take a photo with your camera, or upload a photo or PDF you already have.
  4. Select Generate a menu.
  5. Check every item and price, then select Publish and edit. You can still edit the menu and add item photos afterwards.
  • The whole menu must fit on one page and be captured in one photo. Blurry or low-contrast photos may fail.
  • To show photos of the menu without generating one, select Edit menu, then Photos of menu, and upload photos or a PDF.
  • To add a menu link instead, select Edit profile, then Contact, then Menu link, enter the address and save.
  • If Google finds several menu sources, open Edit menu, then the Full menu tab, choose your preferred source and save.

How do you add popular dishes from your phone?

Owners and customers can both add dish photos and names in the Google Maps app. Names the business adds take precedence over customers' names.

  1. Open the Google Maps app.
  2. Search for your restaurant by name and town.
  3. Tap Menu, then tap Add.
  4. Add a photo of the dish.
  5. Enter the dish name and tap Done. You can also mark whether the dish is recommended.
  • To fix a dish someone else added, tap it, then More, and choose Edit dish name, Mark dish as incorrect, Offensive dish name or Dish not served here.
  • Google aims to post these edits within a few days but doesn't guarantee they'll be published.

Why isn't your menu updating?

Check these first:

  • It's too soon. Google says changes can take 24 to 48 hours to show on Maps and Search.
  • You saw Something went wrong. Please try again. Make the update again and wait 24 hours. If the same error comes back, contact Google Business Profile support.
  • You can't see Edit menu. The editor is for food and drink businesses only, and profiles whose menu comes from the Business Profile API may not have it. Other businesses can list what they do as services instead.
  • An old menu photo from a customer is still showing. Flag it for removal and upload a correct one.
  • Google copied the wrong prices from your website. Google may transcribe menus from websites; edit or delete the wrong item or section to correct it.
  • You run several restaurants. Google says updating a menu across multiple profiles needs the Business Profile API.
