Why does it matter for a business Page?

Pages are managed through personal accounts, so the Page is only as safe as the logins of the people who run it. With two-factor authentication on, Facebook asks for a code or a login approval whenever someone tries to log in from a browser or device it doesn't recognise. Meta also encourages admins of verified Pages to use it, and Meta Verified requires Advanced Protection, which includes it.

How do you turn it on?

Meta's steps on a computer:

  1. Click your profile picture in the top right, then Settings and privacy.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Accounts Centre, then Password and security.
  4. Click Two-factor authentication, then the account you want to update.
  5. Choose a security method and follow the on-screen instructions.

Which method should you choose?

Meta offers three:

  • If you choose text messages, you can add a new number or use one already on your account.
  • Don't click Save this browser on a public computer. Private browsing or clearing history may mean entering a code every time.

How do you get recovery codes?

Recovery codes let you log in without your phone. Each one works once.

  1. Go to Accounts Centre, then Password and security, then Two-factor authentication.
  2. Select the account. You may need to re-enter your password.
  3. Under How you get login codes, click Additional methods, then Recovery codes.
  4. Click Get new codes, then print or write down the ten codes.

What if you can't get your code?

Meta suggests trying these in order:

  • Wait a few minutes for a delayed text message, and check you have signal.
  • Approve the login from another device where you're still logged in.
  • Enter one of your saved recovery codes.
  • On a computer, click Need another way to authenticate?, then Other options, then Get more help to confirm your identity. Meta says you typically hear back within one to two working days.

What else protects your Page?

Make sure everyone with full control of the Page has two-factor authentication on, and consider Advanced Protection, which Meta describes as adding extra login safeguards. In a business portfolio, Security centre can require two-factor authentication for everyone.

Zolyp is our product, so weigh this section with that in mind. Keep your two-factor settings in place whoever helps with posting. Zolyp publishes to your connected Page after you approve the week, and it flags a broken connection before it costs you a post.

Zolyp plans the week across your content themes, writes the captions and designs the visuals against your Brand Brain (your tone, colours and rules, saved once), then schedules and publishes to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Business, X, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and Threads. You review and approve the week, and Autopilot lets you hand off publishing theme by theme once you trust the output. Plans that create the posts start at $29 a month, with a 3-day free trial and no card required.
