How to download your TikTok data

TikTok says your file may include, among other things, your username, video watch history, comment history and privacy settings. You choose which information to include when you make the request.

• Some data may not be available, such as data that affects the privacy of other people.
• Because of processing times, the last 24 to 48 hours of some data may be missing. Request again after that if you need the most recent data.

The steps on TikTok's help centre:

1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu button (three lines) at the top, then Settings and privacy.
3. Tap Account.
4. Tap Download your data.
5. Choose the information to include and select a file format.
6. Tap Request data.

TikTok sends an in-app notification when the file is ready. It can take a few days to prepare, and once it's ready you have up to 4 days to download it.

1. Tap Profile, then the Menu button, then Settings and privacy.
2. Tap Account, then Download your data.
3. Tap Download data to see the status of your request.
4. Tap Download when the file is ready.

If you asked for the wrong data or format, cancel and request again:

1. Go to Settings and privacy, Account, then Download your data.
2. Tap Download data, then Cancel next to your request.
3. Tap Delete request to confirm.

• Cancelling stops the download and you won't receive the file. You can request your data again at any time.

If you're in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, TikTok may let you authorise a third party to transfer your data to its service. You can give one-time access or ongoing access, and TikTok warns that ongoing access means the third party may keep regular access to that data, so only use services you trust.

1. Open the third-party service's app. You may be asked to log in to TikTok.
2. Select the categories to transfer and tap Continue.
3. Return to the third-party app to confirm the transfer.

• Profile information and the posts you've made.
• Activity information, such as videos you've watched, liked and commented on.
• Direct messages between you and other people.

If you want post performance rather than an account archive, TikTok Studio's analytics download is a separate, quicker route.

• The Download button has gone: the file expires after up to 4 days. Make a new request.
• Recent activity is missing: the last 24 to 48 hours may not be included. Request again later.
• The file is still preparing: it can take a few days, and TikTok notifies you in the app when it's ready.
• Still stuck: TikTok says you can contact it through its online form, and the Contact Us section of its Privacy Policy lists other options depending on where you live.
