Character limits on every platform
Every platform caps captions, titles and image alt text at a different length. These are the exact limits Zolyp's composer counts against for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Business, X, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and Threads. X allows 280 characters per post and Threads 500; going over gets trimmed or rejected at publish.

Common questions
What happens if a caption is over a platform's limit?
The composer counts against these exact numbers as you type. A caption over a platform's limit is trimmed or rejected at publish, so shorten it, or give that platform its own version of the caption.
Which platforms have a separate title field?
LinkedIn (optional, up to 400 characters), YouTube (required, up to 100), Pinterest (up to 100) and TikTok (up to 90, on photo posts only). The other platforms only have the caption.
Is image alt text limited?
On Instagram, X and Pinterest it is: Instagram 1,000, X 1,000, Pinterest 500 characters. The other platforms don't cap it.
Why is the X limit so much shorter?
X's standard limit is 280 characters per post. Longer posts are an X Premium feature, so Zolyp works to the standard limit.
How long can a Threads post be?
Up to 500 characters, and Threads accepts text-only posts, so a short update needs no image.
