What are Pinterest lead ads, and who can use them?
People share their details by filling in a form in your ad, without leaving Pinterest. You control the form's description, questions and confirmation text. Lead ads aren't available to everyone yet: if you want to try them, contact your account manager. You'll need a computer, as lead ads can't be created on mobile. Each form has:
- Call to action: the button people click to open the form, chosen from a list
- Privacy policy link: so people know how their information will be used
- Optional extra disclosure language added to the form's standard legal text
- Questions: mandatory prompts such as Email, picked from a list or written by you
- Completion message: what people see after they submit

How do you set up the leads campaign?
Pinterest's pages name the objective differently. The Lead ads page says to choose Conversions, while the Select a campaign objective page lists a Leads objective. Pick whichever your Ads Manager shows, then:
- Click the menu icon at the top left and, under Manage campaigns, click Create campaign.
- Click Custom create campaign, then Get Started, and choose the objective.
- Set a campaign name, status, budget and schedule, then click Continue.
- Enter the ad group details, targeting strategy, targeting details, budget and schedule.
- Under Optimization & delivery, choose your conversion data source, then select Lead as the conversion event.
- Select your bidding strategy, then click Create ad below Ads.

- Click the add-circle icon below Lead form and give the form a name (only you see it).

- Open Completion message and write what people see after submitting.

How do you download your leads?
Lead data is deleted 30 days after each lead is submitted and can't be retrieved, so download regularly. If you use a business account as an employee, you need admin access. First add the columns:
- Open the menu, and under Manage campaigns click Campaign Manager.
- Click Edit Columns, scroll to Engagement, select Lead and Cost per lead, and click Apply. Optionally click Save table.
- Click the Ads tab at the top of the table.
- Next to Targeting breakdown, click Table and select Lead Generation.
- In the Leads column, click Download, then Download again to confirm. The date range can be up to 30 days.

How do you send leads to your CRM automatically?
Pinterest documents four routes, so you don't have to download files by hand:
- Zapier: needs a paid Zapier plan and admin access to the ad account. Use the Pinterest Leads app with the New Lead event. Each new lead form needs its own Zap, or you can send all leads from an ad account
- Salesforce Sales Cloud: needs the Enterprise edition or higher on Lightning Experience, admin or owner access to the ad account, and a Salesforce Org Admin. Install the app from AppExchange, authorise it and map your form questions
- Salesforce Marketing Cloud: syncs leads into a data extension. Needs at least one lead ad and admin or owner access
- Pinterest API for Lead ads: for a custom integration when the others don't fit

Why can't you create or find your lead ads?
Check these first:
- No lead ad option at all: lead ads aren't open to every advertiser. Ask your account manager
- Working on a phone: lead ads can only be created on a computer
- Lead ad missing under Choose a format: it only appears after the campaign is set up with Lead as the conversion event
- Can't download leads: employees need admin access to the business account
- Old leads are gone: data is deleted 30 days after submission. Set up Zapier or Salesforce so leads leave Pinterest straight away
- Leads missing in Salesforce: duplicate rules can drop them. Pinterest suggests deactivating the Standard Lead duplicate rule, and checking Package Logs for errors
