Who can start a LinkedIn newsletter?
The rules differ for people and Pages:
- Original content means posts or articles you made on LinkedIn: text, image or video posts, or published articles.
- Good standing means following LinkedIn's Professional Community Policies.
- If the Create newsletter option doesn't appear, your account or Page doesn't have access yet.
| Personal profile | Company Page | |
|---|---|---|
| Eligibility | LinkedIn says all members have access | More than 150 followers and/or connections, original content on LinkedIn, and a good standing record |
| Who creates it | You | A super admin or content admin |
| Where | Write article, then Manage | The Page admin view, under Create |
| Newsletters allowed | Up to five | Up to five |

How do you create a newsletter for a LinkedIn Page?
For a company Page, start from the admin view:
- Go to your Page's super or content admin view.
- Click Create in the left menu.
- Click Create a newsletter.
- Enter a newsletter title, choose a publishing frequency and add a description.
- Upload an image.
- Click Done.
- A newsletter made for a Showcase Page isn't linked to the parent Page.
- Admins can also start from their own homepage: click Write article, choose the Page under Publish as, click Next, then use the Manage menu.

What happens when you publish the first edition?
Publishing the first edition is what switches the newsletter on:
- LinkedIn creates a newsletter page with an overview, your details and a list of editions.
- You can invite your connections or followers to subscribe, and a Page's followers are invited by notification. People who start following you or the Page later get an invitation automatically.
- Each new edition notifies subscribers by push notification, in-app notification and email. LinkedIn avoids sending duplicates, so someone who gets a push may not also get the email.
- Each newsletter can have unlimited editions.

What's the difference between following and subscribing?
They're separate on LinkedIn. Following a person or Page brings their posts into your feed but doesn't subscribe you to their newsletter. Subscribing notifies you about each edition but doesn't mean you follow everything else they post.
Subscriptions are public: they show on the subscriber's profile, and the author can see who subscribed, with their name, photo and headline depending on their settings. Readers can unsubscribe from the emails only, or from the newsletter entirely. To see the newsletters you subscribe to yourself, go to My Network and, under Manage my network, select Newsletters.

How do you plan a newsletter you can keep up?
Every edition lands in subscribers' notifications and inboxes, so a missed or thin edition is more visible than a missed post. Plan before you launch:
- Pick a narrow topic your customers care about, such as plain-English tax changes for café owners.
- Choose a frequency you can keep for six months. Monthly is fine; the form asks you to commit to one.
- Write the first three editions before you publish the first, so you start with a buffer.
- Give every edition one main point and a clear headline.
- Share each edition in a normal post as well, with a line on why it's worth reading.
- Look at which editions bring new subscribers and repeat those topics.
Should you start a newsletter or just post more?
A newsletter isn't a replacement for regular posts. A simple comparison:
| Newsletter edition | Regular post | |
|---|---|---|
| Length | Long-form article | Short, up to 3,000 characters |
| Who's told | Subscribers, by notification and email | Your feed audience, ranked by relevance |
| Effort | High: an article each time | Low to medium |
| Best for | Depth on one topic, building a list | Staying visible every week |
Where Zolyp fits
Zolyp, which publishes this guide, is our own product, so weigh this section with that in mind. Newsletter editions are written in LinkedIn's article editor. Zolyp handles the regular feed posts around them: it plans and writes your weekly LinkedIn posts in your brand voice, including posts that point people to your latest edition. LinkedIn is one of the 9 platforms it publishes to (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Business, X, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and Threads), and you approve the week before anything goes live. Plans that create the posts start at $29 a month, with a 3-day free trial.
Common questions
Do I need 150 followers to start a LinkedIn newsletter?
Not as a member: LinkedIn says all members have access. A company Page needs more than 150 followers and/or connections, plus original content and good standing.
How many LinkedIn newsletters can I have?
Up to five, whether you create them as yourself or as a Page. Each can have unlimited editions.
Do subscribers get my newsletter by email?
Yes. Each new edition sends push, in-app and email notifications to subscribers, and they can turn off the emails while staying subscribed.
Why don't I see Create newsletter?
The option only appears for accounts and Pages with newsletter access. For a Page, check it meets the criteria and that you're a super or content admin.
How do people find and subscribe to a LinkedIn newsletter?
The Subscribe button appears on invitation notifications, next to newsletters shared in the feed, on each edition and at the top of the newsletter page. LinkedIn also shows trending newsletters in the My Network tab.
