Why do Google Business Profiles get suspended?
Google suspends or disables profiles that don't follow its guidelines. The common reasons in Google's policy overview:
- The business isn't eligible. A business must make in-person contact with customers during its stated hours, so online-only businesses, lead generation companies and rental or for-sale properties don't qualify.
- Google decides the business doesn't exist at the location you claim. The profile is disabled.
- The address is a P.O. Box. Profiles with a P.O. Box address are suspended.
- The account is restricted. A pattern of policy violations can restrict your account, which suspends every profile it manages.
- Another Google product account was restricted. If the profile was created with that account, the profile can be suspended too.

What should you check before you appeal?
Google asks you to make sure the profile follows all its guidelines first. Check the name matches your real-world signage, the address is a real, staffed location (or hidden if you're a service-area business), and the phone number and website belong to this location.
You can attach optional evidence. Google lists these as helpful, and says the business name and address on each document should match the profile:
- Official business registration
- A business licence
- Tax certificates
- Utility bills for the business, such as electricity, phone, water or internet

How do you submit an appeal?
Google is clear on one thing: don't create a new Business Profile for the same business. Then:
- Open the Google Business Profile appeals tool.
- If you're signed in to the account for the profile, select Confirm. Otherwise select Switch account.
- Select the Business Profile you want to appeal, then Continue.
- Select the decision you want to appeal, then Continue. The tool shows the date, the reason, a link to the policy and whether it can be appealed.
- Optionally, select Choose file to upload evidence, and explain in the text box why the profile should be reinstated.
- Tick the box confirming you're ready and that your evidence is attached, then select Submit appeal.
- Appeals can only be submitted once, so attach everything before you submit.
- If your whole account is restricted, appeal the account first on your My accounts page, then appeal the profile.
- Managing more than 10 suspended profiles? The tool asks if you're requesting bulk reinstatement; attach a spreadsheet of Business Profile IDs and your documents.

How do you check the status of an appeal?
Google says appeal reviews and decisions can take up to 5 business days, and you shouldn't submit several appeals for the same issue while you wait. If your appeal is denied, Google may do an additional review, where you can add evidence you didn't include the first time. Businesses in the European Economic Area may have extra options, such as an out-of-court dispute settlement body.
- Sign in to the Google Account associated with the profile.
- Open the Google Business Profile appeals tool.
- Select the Business Profile you appealed.
- Read the status on the right: Submitted, Approved, Not Approved, Can't be appealed or Eligible for appeal.

What other restrictions can you appeal?
A suspended profile has to be reinstated before you can appeal any content decision. After that, the route depends on what was restricted and where your business is:
- Fake review restrictions are separate. Google can stop a profile receiving new reviews, unpublish existing ones for a set period, or show a warning that fake reviews were removed. It emails the owner first, and you can appeal.
- If the appeals tool says there's nothing to appeal but you believe there is, contact Google to check whether you're eligible.
